It’s time for another Breed Spotlight! Let’s take a look at the infamous Shih Tzu dog breed. Did you know the owners of My Pet Pail have two Shih Tzus named Isabella and Lola? They are both well loved and eat like Queens with raw feeding!

The Shih Tzu is a very old and well-loved breed of dog. Shih Tzu means little lion, but there is nothing but sweetness in this dog breed. They can be best described as a happy, loving, and outgoing dog breed. The Shih Tzu is a lover, not a fighter which is why it’s a favorite dog breed among families and small children. They always love to be close to their owners as they have the tendency to follow them everywhere around the house. The Shih Tzu is traditionally a lap dog, but in recent years they have begun to enter the dog sporting arena!

Shih Tzus have big dark eyes are come in several coat colors. They are short, ranging only from 8-10 inches in height and 10-15 lbs in weight. Their coats are silky and most closely resemble fine human hair. This also means they are one of the few hypoallergenic dog breed choices out there! The coat is worth the time you will put into it—few dogs are as beautiful as a well-groomed Shih Tzu. Because of this, they are a favorite among AKC dog shows for their gracefulness and silky groomed coats.

Do you live in a city? Shih Tzus are fantastic dogs for city life because they easily adapt to smaller living conditions. They do not require high energy exercise daily, but they do enjoy to get out of the house for a walk or run at the park whenever possible. They make fantastic companion dogs for on the go families.

My Pet Pail is perfect to hold the right amount of food and water for your Shih Tzu.
