Pawsicles – The Perfect Summer Treat for Dogs

We’re just getting over the extreme July heat and heading into August, where the heat is less intense but still makes you want to shave your hair. Speaking of which, do you know who has a lot of hair and would probably love to cool down? Your dog. Yep, their entire bodies are covered with fur, and they can’t take care of it themselves. That’s why God made man and dog best friends; we take care of each other.

I recently found this amazing recipe for PAWSICLES! That’s right, Dog popsicles. Even though they’re for dogs, I tried one and despite the almond butter, I thought they didn’t taste half bad! *Hint hint, they’re made with people ingredients because we don’t want our doggos eating weird preservatives that some scientist said was “better” for them. I want my fur baby to get the best ingredients possible. So in that effort, I only used Organic ingredients. You can do non-organic (because we all know how expensive organic is) but try to get the best quality if possible. Either way, your dogs are going to eat these pawsicles up and #bonus they will cool them off as well!

Onto the recipe; I found that I had to double the recipe in order to fill the mold, but if you were to just use an ice tray and not a giant diamond mold then you’d probably be fine just using the recipe as is. As for instructions on this recipe you’ll laugh at how simple it is:

Pawsicles

⅓ cup (organic) blueberries

⅓ cup plain (organic) yogurt

2 tablespoons raw almond butter

½ banana

1 ½ tablespoons (organic) honey

Instructions

  1. Drop all ingredients into a blender
  2. Blend until smooth (may have to get in there to stir it up)
  3. Pour into a mold or ice tray
  4. Added step: use a dog bone or meat stick as your popsicle stick replacement for an easy pull-out
  5. Freeze for 2-4 hours
  6. Cool those puppers down

See? So easy, even your dog could do it 😉 anyhow, if you recreate these pawsicles, tag us in your photos and videos! We love to feature our Pet Pail Family. Use the hashtag #pawsicles and tag @mypetpail for a 20% promo code sent your way. Happy summertime loving!
