The Siamese cat is one of the most easily recognizable cat breeds that exists. These cats are very popular not only because of their looks, but also their wonderful disposition. Siamese love to play with their humans so you’ll always be able to spend bonding time with them. This cat breed gets along with dogs and kids, so it’s a welcome addition to any family. These cats are very vocal and often love “talking to” their humans.

Siamese cats usually weigh around 6-10 lbs. and are considered medium sized cats. The Siamese cat has a muscular body type, a triangular shaped head with a long neck and a long skinny tail. Their eyes are light blue and almond-shaped. The body color of the Siamese can be white or cream, and the markings can be colored seal point, blue point, lilac point, cream point, red point, or chocolate point. With its distinctive light coating and dark points around the ears, face, paws and tail, this cat is truly stunning.

Siamese cats have short hair and don’t shed much. You’ll need to brush your Siamese about once a week with a gentle brush or comb. Make sure you brush your cat just as you would your own hair, in the direction of the hair growth. Once finish brushing, you may want to wipe your cat’s coat with a damp towel to get rid of any excess hair. It’s important to keep your cat’s nails trimmed as well. This should be done about every 2-3 weeks to prevent scratching and help prevent against splitting or breaking.

Siamese cats are an extremely intelligent breed, for this reason, they can be trained. Make no mistake though, their intelligence and strong will combined often make for training challenges. It is said by many that the majority of the training consists of their Siamese training them. These cats are excellent jumpers and love heights. You may want to invest in a cat perch or cat tree to help them entertain this desire. You’ll find Siamese cat’s to be very affectionate and friendly, they love curling up beside you and cuddling. Most owners of Siamese cats agree, they are the perfect addition to any family.
