Dogs need stimulation and sometimes just walking them isn’t enough to calm their curious minds. Here are some simple games you can do with your pup in and around your house to keep them happy.

Hide and Seek. Most dogs love searching, and what better reward for them than to find their owner? Simply command your dog to stay while you go hide, once hidden give the go-ahead command and your dog will be on the hunt. This simple game brings your dog so much joy. If your dog doesn’t stay when you walk away, maybe another family member can assist until they get used to the idea of the game.

Mind Games. It’s important for your pooch to feel engaged. There are some simple things you can do to boost your dog’s mental health. A low cost, easy game is hide the treat. Just lay out a few solid containers and place your dogs treat under one. Mix them around and Bored Doghave him find where the treat is hidden. Another way to engage your pup is to teach him a new trick. Dogs really do love learning new tricks to show off.

Frisbee. Many dogs like fetch and this is a bit of a variation. You’ll want to start out easy by tossing them the frisbee at a close distance. Wait for your dog to bring you the frisbee, then praise them or give them a treat. Eventually you can increase the distance when tossing once your dog gets the hang of it.

Hide the Ball/Toy. Like with hide and seek, hiding a dog’s favorite ball or toy will help occupy their minds. Dogs have a great sense of smell and will most likely make light work of searching out their own toy. Even if your dog brings back their toy quickly, be assured, they are having a blast. If you want to add a bit of an exercise element, hide the toy farther away so your pooch has to cover a greater distance.

Any of these great games will help your dog through boredom and help the two of you bond. Remember My Pet Pail is designed with extra storage space so you can bring your dog’s favorite ball, toy and treats anywhere.
